LIBRARY PROCEDURES

  • Residents of Desloge five years and older, who live within the city limits, will be issued a library card at no charge.

  • Persons living outside of the city limits will be charged $5.00 per family per year.

  • Patrons under the age of 18 must have signed parent/guardian permission.

  • Persons 55 and older, regardless of residency, will not be charged a fee.

  • Any student attending a North County School will not be charged a fee.

REGISTRATION:

  • New Patrons must present proof of residency—a valid driver’s license with current address or current phone, and a utility, or rent receipt with name, address, and date. There will be a limit of two items per person for first-time patrons. All cards expire after one year and must be renewed and any applicable fees paid before patrons are able to borrow materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF BORROWERS:

  • The borrower is responsible for the care and on time return of materials that he or she has borrowed.

  • Parents are responsible for the materials that their children have borrowed until the children reach the age of 18.

  • If materials are lost, damaged, or destroyed beyond repair, the patron is responsible for paying the current replacement cost of materials.

  • If material is overdue, patrons must return the overdue material before they will be allowed to check out more materials.

  • If the replacement cost exceeds $15, all library privileges will be suspended.

LIBRARY MATERIALS

  • Patrons will be limited to 10 books checked out at a time. When there are several cards issued to members of an individual family, the total number of books checked out at one time cannot exceed 25.

The library has the following loan periods for its materials:

            Adult/Children’s’ Books:  2 weeks

            Audiobooks: 2 weeks

            Magazines: 3 days

            Reference Books:  In-library use only

Materials that are not on reserve or overdue may be renewed one time over the phone.

RESERVES
Patrons may ask that a new arrival or currently loaned book or audiobook be reserved for them.

These items will be held for 3 days at the desk, after notification by phone. If not called for by the end of the third day the material will be given to the next person on the reserve list. Reserved materials will not be renewed.

For our patrons’ convenience a book return bin for returning books, audiobooks, and magazines, before or after library hours, is located at the Oak Street entrance.

BOOK DONATIONS
The library accepts donations of books in good condition; those not needed in the library collection will be offered for sale.

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Summer reading programs for Preschool-8th grade are held annually in July.
